Why the FairTax

March 27th, 2009

Does it irritate you that you get a paycheck for $700 when you agreed on a salary of $1000?

Do you believe that you should be taxed (penalized) on your work and productivity?

How do you feel about paying higher taxes because the underground economy deals strictly in cash and they pay no taxes?

What do you think about the elite who are able to live on their dividends and capital gains and pay no payroll taxes?

Do you like the fact that the harder you work, the more you make and the more government gets?

Tired of paying for the privilege of wasting your time gathering receipts, buying software or hiring someone to figure your taxes?

Do you like sharing your personal financial information with the IRS?

Are you happy with that tax refund? What about the part the government kept? Not a very equal split I bet.

The first cut out of your earnings goes to the government; Payroll taxes (social security 6.2% and Medicare 1.45%) plus federal tax based on your personal earnings.

But that is not all. Think the federal government has already taken their cut? No way. You still get to pay tax on savings, tax on capital gains, tax on dividends, tax on gifts you give and they get you on the way out with tax on your estate when you die.

Are you tired of funding wasteful government bureaucracy like the IRS?

Isn’t it great that the politicians can be influenced by the lobbyist to manipulate the tax code every year rewarding their friends and punishing others.

Does anyone really know what those 67,000+ pages of tax code say or mean. Even Charlie Rangel the chairman of the powerful tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee must not understand the tax code because he failed to pay tax on $75,000 in rental income.
